Aircraft Mechanics Minimum Tool List

aircraft mechanic tool bag
Veto Pro-Pac is the ultimate tool bag. Perfect for both students and mobile mechanics.  Free shipping @ amazon

The tool listed here is for a general mechanic.  A structures or sheetmetal mechanic will need a different set.   The tools should be a professional brand such as snap-on,  matco, mac or even craftsman will be fine.   Choosing a brand will most likely be personal preference and whatever the budget can afford.  Students can take advantage of student discounts from Matco online.  You can get instant access to discounted tools.  Some of the tools are actually cheaper with the matco discount than craftsman.  Plus matco has free shipping over $50.00.  The best part about the matco student discount is that they do not check whether or not you are a student.  So yes, you could lie and get a nice discount on tools,  but you didn’t hear that from me.

You will also need an aircraft mechanic tool box.  Students or mobile mechanics can get away with a large tool bag.  Veto makes the best aircraft mechanic tools bag on the market today.  Yes, it is expensive but it is the last tool bag you will buy.

If you are a student, most aviation mechanic schools will have their own aircraft mechanic minimum tool list that should be followed.  It will probably closely resemble this one but will probably have a few more metal working tools included.     Read my must have aircraft mechanic tool list here and get reviews on new products coming out.
