Mechanix Glove Review
Protect your Hands
With the colder weather approaching, it’s a good idea to start thinking about having the right gear for the cold. For me, that means digging my hat out of the closet and buying a new set of work gloves.
Mechanix makes many different types of gloves, but I have found for working on aircraft, the Original .5mm High Dexterity gloves tend to be best. While these gloves will not provide a ton of protection from the cold, it does provide enough protection for most situations. The trade off is that they are extremely flexible so it doesn’t feel like your are wearing a heavy glove.
The warmer the glove, the thicker the materials and it then become difficult to work with. The .5mm HD gloves are sensitive enough to install small screws or do safety wiring.
These gloves not only provide that extra protection during the chilly months, they also protect against abrasion. We all have gotten that safety wire stabbing or gotten snagged on that sharp zip tie end.
The Mechanix .5mm HD glove provides excellent protection yet still provides enough dexterity for the average aircraft mechanic. These gloves are well built and tend to last longer than the cheaper work gloves. Now, the only problem I will have is trying to keep them clean!
